Integrated Basic Education Skills Training (I-BEST) and Adult Education Director

melissaAlamo I-BEST is an initiative that provides training and employment assistance to workers and students who require basic skill development in order to succeed in technical training. Through grant writing and braided funding, based on the Accelerate Texas model, Melissa has created the system of program delivery. Available programs help fill the employment gap for high demand occupations and provide Workforce Solutions Alamo twelve county region with a significant middle skill training opportunities and return on investment. Ms. Sadler-Nitu ensures that programs are available in high need areas and scaled to all of the Alamo Colleges a 65,000 student population.

Prior to working for Alamo Colleges, she served as Director of Adult Basic Education in the Guadalupe, Comal and Kendall County area north of San Antonio. Her program provided GED/ESL services to 1200+ adult learners annually. She attributes program success to stellar professional development. She has published curriculum and Professional Development for Career and Educational Pathways at Cambridge University Press. This professional development spans the beginning levels of English as a Second Language to college and careers.

Ms. Sadler-Nitu’s program consistently meets performance measures set forth by the state agencies. She has over 15 years’ experience teaching and serving all levels of ESL, adult basic education and “at risk” youth from dual language homes. She has been successfully transitioning students into higher education and the workplace throughout a 20 year career.
