Julie Pitts has worked with international and immigrant issues in residential life, counseling, academic advising, programming and immigration advising in both two and four year institutions. She is currently the Director of the Intercultural Center at Johnson County Community College, an office she was responsible for developing and implementing.
Julie Pitts’ experience includes the traditional areas considered part of international student services such as F, M, J and other visa student advising, regulatory guidance, admissions, recruitment, retention, programming, evaluation of international educational credentials and financial documents, policy, and disability issues, but in addition encompasses immigrant regulatory advising, financial aid issues, fund raising, credential evaluation and admissions processes for asylees, refugees, pending permanent and permanent residents and undocumented students.
Julie Pitts is currently pursuing a PhD in Counseling and World Religions. She received her Master of Science in Counseling from the University of Nebraska-Kearney and Bachelors of Science degrees in Elementary Education and Middle School and Junior High Education from Northwest Missouri State University as well as Law Enforcement Certification from the University of Missouri Columbia.
