Dr. Jeannett Manzanero is the director of the Dr. Kathryn W. Davis Global Education Center, and for the past 10 years has been an adjunct professor of Sociology Center at Palm Beach State College. In the 1990s she established the “Amigos de por Vida-Friends for Life” Pk-5 public charter school in Houston. Prior to that, she served as trainer of Facilitative Leadership (bilingual) and Teams in Action for the Interaction Institute for Social Change, a Boston-based, non-profit. She completed the National Service Executive Leadership program at the Presidio Leadership Center in San Francisco, Conflict Resolution trainer program from the National Center for Community Mediation, and America Reads trainer program from the Northwest Educational Regional Laboratory in Portland Oregon. She implemented a national and state Literacy AmeriCorps program at the City of Houston READ Commission. There she directed a corps of over 75 members who served as reading, math and ESOL tutors to immigrant families and other adults helping them improve their literacy, obtain a GED and become job ready to achieve the self-sufficiency goals of the Welfare Reform Act of 1996. Dr. Manzanero has extensive experience in research and program evaluation of Bilingual, ESOL, Migrant, Immigrant and Refugee K-12 programs. During her doctoral studies at the University of Denver, Colorado she co-authored two sociology journal articles and made presentations at various national and international conferences.
