Latino Outreach and Services Coordinator
Since 2005, Erin Howard has served as the Latino Outreach and Services Coordinator for Bluegrass Community and Technical College. She earned a Master’s of Arts in Spanish from the University of Tennessee and completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish from Tennessee Technological University. Erin also studied at la Universidad Nacional Autónoma in Costa Rica.
The Latino Outreach Office at BCTC provides educational outreach programs, college admissions and financial aid support, and student support services and leadership development including academic advising, career counseling and activities via the Kentucky Dream Coalition and other university or community groups. Exemplary programs that include the Latino/Multicultural College Fair and the Latino Leadership and College Experience Camp where Latino and immigrant youth are encouraged to stay in school and plan for college.
Outside of her role as Latino Outreach Coordinator, Erin serves as a board member for United We Dream, a national immigrant youth organization dedicated to achieving equal access to higher education for all people by addressing the inequities and obstacles faced by immigrant youth and by developing a sustainable, grassroots movement, led by immigrant youth, documented and undocumented, and children of immigrants. Erin’s work with UWD focuses on creating opportunities for higher education and educational empowerment for immigrant youth.
