Instructional Dean for Adult ESOL & Literacy Programs
As the Instructional Dean, Dr. Kinerney provides administrative and instructional leadership for grant-funded adult education programs, including the Adult ESOL & Literacy – GED Program and Refugee Training Programs, which provide approximately 12,000 seats to learners in need of English language and/or literacy skills development. She is currently developing a series of new programs in healthcare and building trades that integrate English language and basic skills instruction with workforce training. Dr. Kinerney most recently served on the Board of the Maryland Association for Adult, Community and Continuing Education (MAACCE), and was the Chair of the Adult Education Interest Section Chair for Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). Last year she testified on New Innovations and Best Practices under the Workforce Investment Act for the House Subcommittee on Higher Education, Lifelong Learning, and Competitiveness.
Dr. Kinerney has a Doctor of Philosophy Degree, Language, Literacy, and Culture, with a concentration in literacy and English language training in adult education settings, a Master of Arts Degree in Instructional Systems Development for English as a Second Language (TESOL) and Bilingual Programs, both from the from University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
